The challenge
The DLSU Intelligent Systems Laboratory needed researchers to work with sensitive data under strict privacy obligations. The data had to be usable for analysis but impossible to take out, whether by USB, email, cloud upload or a phone camera.
What we designed
A layered design that controls every way data could leave:
- Physical access: only authorized researchers, logged in and out.
- Network isolation: analysis machines with no path to the internet or personal devices.
- Least-privilege accounts: each researcher sees only the data their approved study needs.
- Controlled data in and out: data enters through one vetted process, and only approved, non-sensitive results leave.
- Audit logging: a record of who accessed what, and when.
All of it is aligned with the Philippine Data Privacy Act.
The result
A complete architecture and set of operating procedures that let research go ahead while meeting data protection requirements. The same pattern applies to hospitals, banks, BPOs and any team that wants to use AI or analytics on data it can’t risk.
